Cloe and I met at our HypnoBirthing training and we hit it off straight away. I was thrilled when she invited me to photograph her birth. I love the intimacy of homebirths - there is something pretty special to witnessing a woman being loved and nurtured by her man, her mum and her midwives! There was such a calm, serene presence in her birth space - I could feel it in the air. Cloe's birth film can be seen on the Little Films page.
Using all the tools we learnt together Cloe was as relaxed and deeply connected to her baby as I have ever witnessed. You would never know to look at her husband - he had been on a boys weekend away and rather hung over as they were SURE their baby boy was not coming htis weekend....... but htey were wrong.
While hubby got a little 'shut eye' Cloe was massaged and nurtured by her mum and midwife as she dozed. They then whispered her birth affirmations to help her go more deeply within and reconnect with her baby.
Surges are really starting to intensify now and releasing some long low moans is exaclty what Cloe needs to focus on her breathing, release tension in her body and allow her baby to move down.
Moving into the pool to be supported by deep water is just what she needs as she nears transition, baby is nearly here.
Cloe gently talks to her baby, telling him it's time to be born and join their family.
Baby Darcy arrives, he is a little slow to start breathing and with some help from her two gorgeous midwives Darcy is ok and back safely in him mothers arms.
Darcy joined his family at 3:20am on February 21st 2016 weighting 10 pound 3 oz! Congratulations guys, he is beautiful!
